We are redefining the Market Place

In early 2010 the Market Place will be transformed into a contemporary urban market, pairing minimalism with the functionality of design. recessed pot lighting, natural wood ceiling beams, stone flooring and a neutral colour palette will combine to produce a bright and exciting new central food hall. A convenient stand-up counter will provide the perfect spot for on-the-go dining.

Market Place's distinctive food offerings will be elevated with the renovations of your favourite eateries and the addition of The Market by Longo's.

Longo's looks forward to bringing their passion for food, unrivalled expertise and outstanding quality to FCP in spring 2010. To experience The Market by Longo's now, visit their location in Brookfield Place.

Smoke-Free Ontario Act

On May 31, 2006, the Smoke-Free Ontario Act came in to existence. The Act is a key element of the government’s Smoke-Free Ontario strategy and will help shield workers and the public from the harmful effects of tobacco by banning smoking in enclosed public places and enclosed work places.

How does the new Act affect Brookfield Properties? The new Act is more inclusive than previous no-smoking legislation and further limits the number of areas where smoking is permitted. In Ontario, an “enclosed workplace” is defined as the inside of any place, building or structure or vehicle or conveyance that is covered by a roof, frequented by employees during the course of their employment, that is not primarily a private dwelling. Examples of areas where smoking is NOT permitted include:

The Smoke-Free Ontario Act will be enforced by the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care. Non-compliance with this legislation could result in a maximum penalty of $5,000.00.

In conjunction with this new Act, we are requesting that as a courtesy, all First Canadian Place tenants and Brookfield employees refrain from smoking within 25 feet of any entrance or the stipulated building standard. It is our expectation that First Canadian Place tenants and Brookfield employees set an example for our tenants and guests.
